ENVIRODBASE includes
25 of the most common components used in the batch process
industry. Data, when available, includes CAS number, vapour
pressure, latent heat, liquid specific heat, occupational
exposure limits, odour threshold, flammability, flash point
and dielectric constant.
BREAC predicts
heat up, boil up, cool down rates and heat removal capability
in jacketed stirred batch reactors. Jacket side coefficients
are based on heat transfer oil systems or direct steam.
The reactor contents are based on non-viscous conditions
with a turbine agitator operating at a nominal speed of
90 rpm.
EMISSION predicts
volatile component emissions from individual process stages.
Emissions may be from displacement, heating or pressure
blowdown. Condenser emissions are based on the pure component
vapour pressure at the exit temperature.
SCRUBBER predicts
the performance of packed wet gas scrubbing columns operating
at atmospheric pressure and mass transfer by fast chemical
reaction. Gas diffusivity, gas viscosity and allowable
scrubber outlet concentrations for common gas phase reaction
species are predicted. Designs can be based on a specified
pressure drop or % flood.
ADSORB predicts
the performance of granular activated carbon fixed bed
adsorption columns based on the Freundlich and Yaw isotherms
for the recapture of single component VOC streams. Sizing
parameters can be adjusted for spare bed capacity.
HDRUM rates
and sizes horizontal blowdown drums based on API 520/521
methods.
STACK rates
and sizes vertical stacks based on HMIP Technical Guidance
Note (Dispersion) D1 methods.
DISPERSE
- STACK predicts the short term pollutant
concentrations directly downwind of an elevated point
source, at specified distances, using dispersion coefficients
based on Pasquill-Gifford or McElroy-Pooler as a function
of atmospheric stability and wind speed.
DISPERSE
- POOLS predicts the short term pollutant
ground level concentration directly downwind of a non
-spreading, rectangular evaporating pool of volatile
liquid using dispersion coefficients based on Pasquill-Gifford
or HSE Kinsman as a function of atmospheric stability
and wind speed.
EMISSIONS
- FUGITIVE estimates emissions from
refinery and organic chemicals processes due to equipment
leaks using the correlation equation and average emission
factor methods.
UTILITIES
PUMP sizes
and rates centrifugal pumps installed in piping systems
handling non-compressible fluids.
USER WORKBOOK provides
a facility for adding user component properties and databases.
